Advanced Supplementary Level (AS Level)

One year course 

Subject Options

The AS level programme provides students with the opportunity to continue with a broad course of study whilst preparing them for Advanced Level (A2). Each subject is equivalent to half an A level and is a free standing qualification in its own right. Most subjects consist of three modules.

Students would normally choose 4 subjects from the following:

  • Biology

  • Business Studies

  • Computing

  • Design Technology (Food)

  • Economics

  • English

  • Further Mathematics

  • Geography

  • General Studies

  • History

  • Information and Communication Technology

  • Law

  • Mathematics

  • Media Studies

  • Performance Studies

  • Photography

  • Physical Education

  • Physics

  • Psychology

  • Religious Studies

  • Sociology

  • Theatre Studies

Method of Assessment

Assessment is through modular examinations and coursework where appropriate.

Entry Requirements

Students should normally possess 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, an appropriate Intermediate GNVQ, or equivalent qualification. They will also need to provide satisfactory references.  Applications from individuals with relevant previous experience, including mature students, are particularly welcomed.
