The
Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education in Business covers a wide
variety of business related subjects, such as:

Planning

In
addition to these subjects students are given the chance to put the skills
they have learnt into practice. Firstly, by undertaking a two week period
of work experience and secondly by developing and marketing their own
business ‘product’. The course also includes trips to both public and
private sector organisations, as well as guest lectures by speakers from a
variety of specialist businesses.
Method
of Assessment
Students
are assessed through assignments and external tests.
Entry
Requirements
Applicants
should normally possess either 4
GCSEs (grade ‘C’ or above), a merit at Intermediate GNVQ or
equivalent. They will also need to provide satisfactory references.
Applications from individuals with relevant previous experience, including
mature students, are particularly welcomed.
Opportunities
This
qualification helps students to go onto higher level qualifications such
as a degree
or Higher
National Diploma. It can also act as the ideal preparation for a range of
jobs in the public and private sector. Possible areas of work include
accountancy, financial services, sales, personnel, public administration,
manufacturing and information technology.
