BTEC Intermediate GNVQ Business

One Year Course

Course Content

This course provides a broad introduction to business and will appeal to students who are interested in business and who wish to move onto a related career or further education. The course is made up of 3 compulsory units and 3 optional units. The compulsory units are: 

  • Business Finance

  • How Businesses Develop

  • Investigating How Businesses Work

The optional units are:

  • Customer Service

  • Personal Finance

  • Individuals and the Organisation

The course includes trips to both public and private sector organisations, as well as guest lectures by speakers from a variety of business sectors. 

Method of Assessment

Business Finance and Individuals and the Organisation are externally assessed through tests. All the other units are internally assessed through assignments set and marked by the course lecturers.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally possess either 2 GCSEs (grade ‘D’ or above), an appropriate Foundation GNVQ or equivalent. They will also need to provide satisfactory references.

Opportunities

This qualification allows students to go onto higher level qualifications such as the Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education in Business, an A level programme, or straight into work. It can prepare students for a range of jobs in the public and private sectors, for example in office administration, financial services, sales, distribution and production.
