Course
Content
This
course aims to give students a broad grounding at advanced level in
mechanical, electrical and
computer based engineering technology. It can also
be supplemented with a variety of options to suit the individual needs
of candidates. For example
GCSEs, A levels and practical workshop based engineering
NVQs can be studied alongside the main qualification.

These
core units are backed up by optional units in mechanical engineering,
electrical engineering and
further mathematics. Subjects covered can range from
microelectronics and CAD/CAM to programmable logic controllers.
Method
of Assessment
Students
are assessed through set assignments, external tests and case studies.
Entry
Requirements
Applicants
should normally possess 4
GCSEs (grade ŚCą or above), an appropriate Intermediate GNVQ, or
equivalent qualification.
They will also need to provide satisfactory references.
Applications from individuals with relevant previous experience, including
mature students, are particularly welcomed.
Opportunities
This
qualification allows students to progress onto higher level qualifications,
such as Higher National Diplomas or degree level programmes. The
course can also act as an ideal preparation for a career in the food,
petro-chemical, textiles,
electronics, construction, computing and manufacturing
industries. |
