In recent years there has been a skills shortage in Engineering and the College has worked closely with companies in the Grantham area to meet the local need for skilled employees. Based on the engineering department's excellent reputation for providing training the College now operates a sponsorship scheme for students in conjunction with local companies.

A broad range of training is available at Grantham College including basic fitting, fabrication and machining skills, electrical engineering, electronics and computer-aided engineering. The College stresses the importance not only of acquiring theoretical knowledge but also hand-on experience.
