EDEXCEL/BTEC The Bridging Programme

One or Two Year Course

Course Content

This flexible programme is designed for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, some of whom will have attended local specialist centres or schools. The course can be used to improve the level of basic education for students and to aid independent learning. Students are given the opportunity to prepare for National Vocational Qualifications and certificates in Numeracy and Literacy. Where necessary specialist support for students is available.

The core elements of the course are Information Technology, Communications and Application of Number. All students look at their own personal development and many undertake a period of work experience/community service.

  • Building and Construction

  • Catering

  • Hairdressing

  • Sports and Leisure

  • Method of Assessment

Students are assessed continuously.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course but applicants will require a basic level of numeracy and communication skills. They will also need to provide satisfactory references.

Opportunities

On completion of this course students can either progress onto the Skills for Work programme or seek employment.
